Edward Abbey Quotes

“All men are brothers, we like to say, half-wishing sometimes in secret it were not true. But perhaps it is true… We are obliged, therefore, to spread the news, painful and bitter though it may be for some to hear, that all living things on this earth are kindred.”

– Nature Writing book p. 620

“He was a cowboy, muy macho, muy hombre. Very sensitive.”

– The Best of Edward Abbey p. 38

  1. Thanks for posting your Abbey quotes. I love both. The first in which Abbey recognizes that all humanity is closely connected, and the second, a humorous quote, about the sensitivity of touch, taciturn cowboys.
